Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Many of my students come from an economically disadvantaged background, with 71% receiving free or reduced-price lunch. My students' test scores are still below the state's average. However, my students are improving at a significant rate. The school media center needs books and supplies to enrich students' learning and promote lifelong readers, which will, in turn, help every aspect of their school learning. I service students at all levels from gifted students to students with disabilities. Meeting the needs of all these students can be challenging as an educator. I'm looking for materials that will enhance the learning day for all my students.

My Project

My students would benefit from a Dyson fan that heats and cools our learning space. We have no control over the temperature within our class. Many days during the summer our air is not working properly and it becomes uncomfortably hot in our room. Opposite during the winter, it becomes uncomfortable cold. With this heating/cooling fan we could keep our temperature at a controlled and comfortable level. I felt the safest option for first graders is a fan that is blade less and reliable like the Dyson product. Our class will be able to be safe and comfortable at the same time.
