My Students
My students come from very diverse backgrounds and attend a school that focuses on project-based learning. As such, they are accustomed to working on collaborative projects and taking deep dives into several areas of our curriculum, including literature, history, and art.
My students are at a dynamic age; they inquisitively view the world through lenses that are both curious and magical.
As their teacher, I am constantly exploring new ways to keep them enthusiastically engaged in all that we do. They always bring a lot to the table and never cease to amaze me.
My Project
Our school uses project-based learning to enable students to think, dream and build BIG. This spring, my students will work on a project that focuses on the varied experiences of immigrants and refugees, both historical and modern. This includes the creation of several products, which will be on display for families and community members later this year. We need PVC pipe, connectors, and pool "noodles" to build a symbolic exhibition to display their work.
The Tunnel of Hope is a large indoor display that will highlight my students' work on our immigration and refugee project.
The materials in this project are all necessary for the construction of the tunnel, with the following dimensions: 7' tall, 5' wide and 26' long. I hope that what they learn, and how they educate our community, will be something they carry with them forever.
