Tuners for the Concert Band Win!

Please help me give my students Korg TM70 tuner/metronome combos. These small but powerful devices will help us improve from our Excellent band rating this spring (2025) to a Superior rating.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These Korg TM70 tuners will attach to students' instruments via the CM 400 microphone during band classes and individual practice sessions. With them, students will get immediate and accurate feedback on intonation. During individual sessions, students can work at different tempos with the built-in metronome without having to play one loud metronome over the band room speakers.

S Magnet School, est 2011, did not have a school concert band until 2024-25.

In their first year, these inexperienced but motivated students earned an Excellent score at adjudication. I am fortunate to have a high level of community and school backing, and believe this new band program could grow quite rapidly.

With these tuners, musical progress will accelerate, a nd students will have increased opportunities to play in festivals, honor bands, and community outreach concerts.
