My Students

The students at this school are really amazing, they are hungry to learn more about music. We are located in South Central Rural Michigan with a predominately poor/low socioeconomic status. These students know a lot about the great things that we can do in music if only we had the resources and tools.

I want to make music a great experience for everyone.

Our school does not have a budget to cover everything that we want to do.

The students here are wanting to explore the many fun and exciting aspects of music and would love any help that they can get.

My Project

Last year we got a project almost exactly like this funded and my students have used the tuners every day since we have gotten them.

The great problem we have now, my middle school band has gotten bigger so we cannot alternate days to use the tuners.

With this project, I am hoping to have enough for everyone to use with maybe one or two students sharing a tuner.

The quality of sound has improved through my younger band students' music education and I have seen and heard an improvement from their overall playing.

Students who have been using them have developed better listening and hearing skills compared to my students who have not. They have learned what it sounds like to be in tune with another and who close enough, sometimes isn't enough at all. They hear these things and it's amazing, and I would like to promote it further.
