My Students

"I am so proud of you!" This is one of the many statements that you hear daily in our classroom.

The smiles on our students' faces are what makes teaching in a classroom so rewarding.

Our students strive from positive reinforcement and a structured setting. Our students feel like they are part of a family in our classroom, and that alone is enough for us to want to do everything we can for them.

We are an asset to their future, and we are responsible in aiding their future in being successful.

My Project

Music gets our bodies moving, our voices singing, and our spirits lifted. No matter the age of a student, music can be incorporated in an age-appropriate way and adapted for all functioning levels. Because so many individuals with special needs have an interest in music, we can focus on this strength to help our students grow and learn.

Music is a successful inclusion tool, engaging special learners and typical peers together in an environment that is meaningful to all participants.

My students would benefit from this music curriculum academically, socially, and emotionally. It would be an effective task motivator for my students, decreasing non-compliant behavior during initial instruction and providing a means for increased attention and duration of on-task participation. Not only does this curriculum provides auditory and kinesthetic learning opportunities for students with multiple disabilitiesm, but it also provides visual supports for students with cognitive and/or language delays. Please help my students get tuned into learning!
