My students need accurate tuners to aid them during class and also at home since most are not able to afford private lessons.

My Students
We are a Title I school with a high percentage of students receiving free or reduced
price lunch.
My students come from a wide range of cultural and financial backgrounds.
Even with their other life challenges, my students are extremely motivated to advance their musical abilities. Most are not able to afford private lessons and therefore have no musical guidance outside of class. These tuners will allow their practice time to become more productive and therefore motivate the students to continue in Instrumental Music.
My Project
The vast majority of my students are not able to afford private instruction. Unfortunately, my district is also slowly removing groups lessons from the school day. Without these lessons, it is very easy for students to become discouraged if they do not notice improvement while practicing.
One of the greatest factors leading to students giving up on an instrument is their inability to play in tune.
Having these tuners available to them for use in class or at home will help the students track their progress.
These tuners will allow the students to clip them onto their instruments and see a clear display letting them know whether or not they are in tune. Using the tuners along with a tuning chart will allow the students to keep a record of their improvement over the course of the year. It will also allow them to recognize the specific tuning difficulties of their instruments.
