This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning." -Plato

The music room is a safe and nurturing environment where students come to express themselves through the fundamentals of music.

We focus on both classical and contemporary music with a large emphasis on music of other countries and cultures. Through music, students learn life skills such as cooperation, organization, time management, determination, and patience. I am a firm believer that I teach kids; music is just my medium.

My Project

All band students will use chromatic tuners to see a visual representation of their individual pitch tendencies. Beginning band students will use the tuners to help in creating and matching the correct pitches as they learn to play their instruments. Intermediate and advanced students will use these visual tools to make adjustments on their instruments for blending across the ensemble. This will benefit the individual students as well as the ensemble and band program as a whole to become better musicians. The advanced students will be able to take their musicianship to the next level in preparation for high school band and beyond.
