My Students
My students come to school everyday with a willingness to learn regardless of the hardships that they face in their everyday lives. No project is too big or too small for my movement learners. We use what we have, and we use it as best we can.
I teach at a Title 1 school where the vast majority receive Free or Reduced lunch.
Not only do my students love to move, they love to learn during the process as well!!!
My Project
These gym mats will allow more students in my class to work on tumbling and other skills improving gymnastics skills and movement. My students came up with this idea last year during our Gymnastics unit in which we practice tumbling, rolling, and transfers of weight.
We constantly ran into the issue of only having one student practicing while the others watched.
This not only created unnecessary pressure on the performer, but created a lack of movement in the physical education classroom.
These mats will provide more opportunity for practice and less standing still during our gymnastics unit and other units!!!
