My Project
Our school needs new and exciting equipment in order to continue providing a safe, fun learning environment for our students. One necessary part of my job as an educator is to make sure that we have up to date equipment that not only meets safety needs, but also can be used to help maximize instruction. We are asking for a complete overhaul for our gymnastics/tumbling equipment here at our school. We are also asking for 3 sets of my newest favorite lawn game, Kubb.
We need these mats for too many reasons to list, however here are a few short examples.
The two foldable mats will not only provide an additional space for students to practice their artistic gymnastics movements, but it also opens up the possibility for adding a new station for fun gymnastics celebration days during the school day. Did you also know that you can use gymnastics mats as barriers or even "nets" to help further instruction with net games? Well now you do, and that is exactly what I will be doing with these mats. We are also asking for some safe and grade level appropriate balance beams to help students work on fine locomotor movements as well as a wedge cheese mat that can help build confidence with younger students who may be hesitant to try tumbling.
We are also asking for a few sets of the Kubb lawn game to help introduce students to some more recreational type activities to give opportunities to students who may not be keen on trying competitive sports during P.E. class. These Kubb sets will be painted to represent the 5 food groups on MyPlate to also further enhance nutrition instruction during P.E. class while having a great time playing a great game!
