My Project
I am doing a high level memoir book club with my Honors Juniors in English class. I am seeking novels to use in small group book clubs that are thought provoking and provide opportunities for deep discussions and critical thinking. Our youth don't get enough opportunity to think critically, nor to debate those thoughts academically, and I have selected a variety of texts to open up more of this in my classroom. Educated is one of the most powerful memoirs I have ever read. Tara Westover is a role model for anyone--she beautifully writes a story of overcoming abuse and rising above the situation she was born into.
