Help me give my students, artists and creators from the most beautiful city in the world, basic art supplies, like Post-it easel pads, picture frames, canvas, special watercolor paper, and more to express their reality.
My fourth grade students come from an economically challenged urban area, and they need an opportunity to express their truth through art.
Art comes in many forms.
The students in my classroom will be able to create and discover their passion and reality through different techniques of creativity. The more variety in art supplies, the more the students will have an outlet to understand the world and in turn, understand themselves.
Central to my teaching philosophy is the idea of exposing children to different perspectives, thus, enabling them to have an open view of the world. These art supplies and posters will enrich and support that idea. They will use markers and Sharpies to make posters about their culture. Post-its are effective when engaged in 'Gallery Walks' where their peers observe creations and show appreciation and curiosity. They post the post-its on the work. With all the new supplies, the pouches will help support being organized and neat. Through creativity and expression, children will have the freedom to broaden their horizons in a comfortable environment.
