Trumpet Time!

My students need a good quality trumpet to ensure they have a positive learning experience in band.

My Students

They say great things come in small packages and that is the case with my students. My students are tiny elementary band students who live, dream, eat and sleep band. They are very serious, excited and highly motivated when it comes to band class! We are the only elementary school in the district that has band. The majority of my students are 3rd-5th grade inner city students.

Our program is not fully funded by the district so we rely on donations to keep our program going.

My Project

My students start band in 3rd grade. We meet everyday during school. They are preparing for their first performance and I would like to be able to supply them with a good quality trumpet. It is very difficult to learn to play an instrument (especially in 3rd grade) if the instrument is not of good quality; I have many students who struggle on a daily basis because the quality of their instruments prevents them from participating and learning in class. Instead of playing, many times they are left struggling with stuck valves and pieces of their instrument literally falling off.

I want to ensure that my students are successful and enjoy band; having access to an instrument that helps the musician rather than hinders them is absolutely essential to a budding musician!
