My Project
Alexa Hagerty's haunting first-person memoir reads like a true-crime mystery. It is the perfect tone and length for teenage World History students. It also provides a wonderful overview of the work of forensic anthropologists as it tells the story of some of the egregious human rights violations in Latin American history.
This short text will vivify and and enrich our World History units on the Cold War and will help portray the human costs of Cold War policies that still reverberate in current events and policy debates around the US southern border and immigration policy.
I plan to use this as a read-aloud through out our Cold War and current events units. My students love a good story and this story tells the history so personally and beautifully that it will leave a lasting impression on them.
