Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm sure this has been said and heard time and time again, but my students are "my kids." Each year is a special and unique group, but they always have one thing in common. My students need to feel loved and important.
Sure, math and reading are essential, but my biggest job is to make sure my kiddos are confident and kind leaders.
I want them to know that there are people out in this world rooting for them. I hope my classroom is a place of fun, comfort and lots of rich experiences.
My kiddos come from great families, but families that work and work just to make ends meet. The majority of my students have a life where they "get what they need" and rarely "what they want."
With that being said, if you were able to look in my classroom, you are going to see fresh smiles every morning. You will see kiddos that love life and are eager to learn...unless it is Monday morning writing, AHHH. Only kidding, kinda.
Just know, if you choose us, you are supporting a wonderful group of 4th graders.
My Project
Each year 4th grade Texas students must take a writing, reading, and math state (STAAR) test. The kiddos work hard to prepare for these tests.
In order to make this test prep fun, we will be hosting three TriWizard STAAR Camps.
There will be a camp week before the writing test in April and two camp weeks before the math and reading STAAR in May.
The items requested will be used to transform our 4th grade hallways and rooms into a magical world of learning. My 4th grade team and I spend lots of time and money transforming our hallway, rooms, and planning fun and engaging activities for these camp weeks. We would LOVE any help with the following items.
The TriWizard cup will be rewarded to the class with the most points at the end of camp. Each student will receive their Harry Potter glasses and tattoo at the beginning of camp. Students are encouraged to dress up and have fun with it. The wands will be given out as special rewards throughout camp. The streamers will be hung in the hallway and classrooms. The books I am requesting are AMAZING resources for us teachers to use to plan lessons and activities. The highlighters and whiteout will be used for "magic" activities.
These items will be used year after year and will not go to waste. Thank you for any and all help!
