My Students

Our school is an equity-focused, project-based learning community. We pride ourselves on working with our local community, with environmental stewardship, and mostly importantly, personalized learning for our students.

We teach an incredible group of talented, brilliant high school students (9th and 10th grade) who are creating individual paths toward the careers and futures of their choice.

Our students have a broad range of career goals, from owning businesses, to urban farming, to music production, to health care.

My Project

Our students have adapted phenomenally to all the shifts in their educational experience over the past two years, and they became masterful at using Desmos online calculators during virtual learning.

Now that we're back in person full-time, we want to allow students to continue their mathematical journey with calculators in their hands!

Our district does not provide resources to purchase calculators, and we've been using basic calculators from the dollar store. However, now that we're using trigonometry to build our Geometry skills, we truly need a better calculator. Students stay much more focused when they are able to use a handheld calculator as opposed to the computer.

The large timer will allow our Geometry and Algebra classes to be dynamic and movement filled with multiple activities per period and a larger timer to make sure we're still on time. Students greatly benefit from a visual reminder to pace themselves through group work and projects.
