This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Working in a K-8 school allows you to get to know the students who remain in one place for more than a year. On the other hand, a transient population makes it difficult for students to feel comfortable and accepted.

Many students have greater difficulties at home which makes school their safe haven.

The full inclusion model allows for students with a range of disabilities to feel welcome and accepted. Even through all the difficulties these students have faced, they all want to succeed.

My Project

Where I teach, most families have difficulty buying school supplies for their children. Students are sometimes left 1-2 weeks without the appropriate materials required to succeed. As teachers, we try to provide as much as possible to help each and every student. With these backpacks, the students are more willing to succeed. In addition these backpacks will help the students home-to-school transition more organized and successful.

Imagine trying to succeed in a job or travel without the appropriate materials, this is what some students end up doing for several weeks at a time.

These backpacks would help their sixth grade year start off on the right foot.
