This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Lakeshore Giant Tree House will greatly benefit the children in my class. It will help to improve their imaginative play, fine motor skills, social skills, and language. This is not your average dollhouse, it is a beautiful tree house!

What child does not love a tree house?

It is sure to bring out the imagination in any child through social-emotional learning. Dramatic play is extremely useful in helping students develop social and emotional skills. They are able to act out real-life experiences with fellow classmates. This helps them process any emotions that they may need in a safe and positive environment. They also develop good social skills by learning how to take turns, making compromises when they do not agree with each other on how and what to play, and developing conversational skills.

Why a treehouse instead of a dollhouse?

The students in my class love being outside! A treehouse is a way to bring some of the outside into our classroom. I can see all students being engaged and learning how to better interact with each other when they are in the treehouse area. We have already received, through Donors Choose, the furniture and families that perfectly complement the treehouse. Finally bringing these items to use will help bring even more excitement.

We are looking forward to our Family/Homes theme for Social Studies in which we will read books and learn about different family dynamics. This material will help us learn about each unique family as we role-play in our tree house during our family thematic unit. This project will surely teach respect and acceptance of each other's diverse family. This tree house will also be used during science to role-play how to take care of our environment
