Help me give my students 6 ukuleles to finish our class set so that we can expand our integration of music with language arts, science, and social studies.

My Students
I teach a very large student body at my school (1000+ students). I gratefully serve daily as their enthusiastic music specialist. My students are comprised of a diverse and eclectic mix of cultures and socioeconomic classes spanning all ages and all stages of academic achievement. They stand as a beautiful celebration of the human spirit and diversity! Through music, my students creatively explore ways to communicate who they are, where they have come from, and share points of light from the journey they are taking. Henry Matisse once said, "Creativity takes courage." In my classes that is certainly the case!
Music provides me with a wonderful opportunity to help my students develop a healthy sense of self and community through creatively integrated experiences that enhance their ability to learn and grow.
It gives them what they believe is a fun "break" from learning when in fact, they are learning and growing continually as they perform, play, and create in my classroom!
My Project
I need 6 ukuleles to finish a class set for my school and with the academic versatility of this instrument, I simply can't pass up the opportunity to provide them for my students! Learning to play the ukulele is an excellent way to study basic music theory, practice composition, and gain confidence through performance. That alone makes this instrument invaluable for me, but the real magic is how it also naturally integrates with language arts, science, and social studies. We will play music from all over the world this year, and that will offer my students opportunities to broaden the scope of their cultural understanding and help them make musical connections to interesting historical events and people. I also plan on helping my students create their own folk compositions using ukulele as accompaniment. These compositions will require work with poetry, rhyme, meter, and form, all of which have undeniable ties to language arts and expression. Finally, there is a beautiful scientific thread between the ukulele and physics. Frequency, resonance, reverberation, etc. are all a part of producing sound on a ukulele, and they can easily be taught as we perform and explore. Unfortunately, I am a new music teacher, and my school, which has never had a music program before, has an abysmal assortment of instruments.
If you help me fund these undeniably versatile ukuleles, you will be making a solid investment in my students' musical, cultural, historical, and academic achievement.
There are so many ways to teach music and academics with these ukuleles, and I plan on exploring as many as possible! Ultimately, however, I can't wait to watch my students blossom as they learn to express themselves through their own unique performances and compositions.
