Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students constantly visit the Counseling Office for breaks of relief. They step into this safe space and express a wide spectrum of emotions including joy, anger, fear, and anxiety. On a frequent basis, we have students whose safest place is school and whose safest adult is a counselor. Our students are safe to cry, yell, vent, and reflect in our office.

The goal of "Treats for Tough Times" is to provide tiny treats after these challenging conversations for as many students as possible.

These treats may be small, but they make a great difference. Our students appear more comfortable when we are able to provide a small snack, bottle of water, or squishy toy. They leave our office feeling much calmer and more prepared to focus in class.
