Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and experiences. They have a variety of special needs and circumstances in their lives that have impacted their ability to learn; however, they are full of life and curiosity about the world around them.

The school where I work is a large elementary school, that is a Title I school, meaning that the majority of the children are on free and reduced-price lunches and/or come from a low-income family.

My school is also very special. We went from an F school to a C school in two years. These students have worked so hard, and I want to provide them with the most resources I can to make them further their success.

My Project

This project focuses on what the students at my Title 1 school need to keep them fueled throughout their long day of learning - FOOD!

My special needs students are very distractible - especially when they are feeling hungry which is why it is so important for me to keep food items in my classroom at all times.

In addition, students are often late due to therapy or skipped breakfast at home so they need breakfast items on stock to fill their bellies. In the middle of our day, we break for a snack and it is often a time to socialize and interact with each other. My students with autism are able to learn social skills, such as sharing with each other, passing out snacks, and cleaning up.

Please help me stock my classroom with these essential items and some treats as well for special times!
