My Project
Every year, my school participates in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl (4-5) and Picture Bowl (K-3) Competitions, where our Reading Teams are required to familiarize themselves with a list of the Georgia Book Award Nominees for that year. The main purpose of this competition is to increase student achievement and reading comprehension, all while developing their love and appreciation for literacy, strengthening their self-esteem, and building team spirit.
Working at a Title I school, this annual event provides my students with literature and insight into experiences they wouldn't be aware of within their daily, normal worlds.
These 25 books will not only provide my students with access to this coming school year's Reading Bowl Competition book list, but they will also enhance the print-rich classroom I am aspiring to create as a 2nd year teacher!
