My Students
My students love to create new things and work to solve problems. Additionally, they don't mind challenges and can even find hard work fun. Our students use the library to explore, create, research, and learn. We strive to prepare our kids for the future in ways that are relevant and engaging.
The kids at my school are comprised of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders from diverse backgrounds.
There is a fairly even balance of the "haves" and the "have-nots" in our school, but we have a strong sense of community among our kids.
My Project
We need an Oculus Go for our library makerspace in order to help our students research distant lands using Google Earth.
Google Earth VR on the Oculus Go will allow my students to go anywhere in the world.
My students routinely use Google maps and it is pretty neat to see the satellite imagery of the world, it is even more immersive to experience that in VR. The plan will be to allow kids to sign up for 10 minute slots in the library that they could then come and try out the technology and experience what it means to go virtually anywhere.
