"The love of one's country is a splendid thing. But why should love stop at the border?" -- Pablo Casals .My goal is to help my students build a love, an appreciation, and have respect for all cultures and customs.
My school consists of wide variety of ethnic groups and cultures.
Our students and their families come from all over the world. They bring different qualities, experiences, hobbies, and cultures. I think it is extremely important for students to learn about other cultures and customs because it helps them to build tolerance and become more knowledgeable about other cultures.
My Project
The materials I am asking for will help the students learn about the seven continents and the customs and cultures of the world. Last year, my class received a generous donation that allowed us to get books about Europe. My students were so excited and would not put the books down. I am hoping the same will happen with this year’s upcoming class. I want them to have access to all the other continents and plant the seed in their minds to continue exploring and learning.
By donating to this project you will help my class build an appreciation and respect for not only their own cultures and customs but for others around them as well.
I feel that if they are learning and reading about it on their own, it will stay with them rather than them being told them must appreciate and respect other cultures.
