This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are the light of our day. Every day these students attend virtual classes, despite their exposure to violence, trauma, gang activity, drugs, and poverty. They want to be taught. They want to learn. They want to be exposed to the world that exists beyond our city limits. They not only need and want to learn academics, but also life and social skills. They need to be able to navigate this new world and we need to be their guide.
My Project
The Oculus VR Headset will allow students to explore the world right from our classroom. With this VR headset, I will be able to download videos, pictures, and games in advance, and students will be able to use it to explore. A virtual reality headset will allow students to "go places" around the world without ever leaving the classroom! From rainforests to Antarctica, to watching DNA replication in a cell happen around them, students will be able to engage physically in their education. This will allow me to help make the curriculum an even more memorable experience.
