Help me give my students an exciting and unforgettable year. I want my students to experience traveling through reading as soon as they walk through the door.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is an exceptional Title I school with exceptional students. Their motivation to push themselves to gain as much knowledge as possible is inspiring. We are a small town in Louisiana. Like most schools, we feel the struggle of not having the funds that could help get our students to the next level, boost their interests, and keep them involved in a fun way.
Our school is composed of Pre-K through 5th grade students.
We have 100% free breakfast and lunch. My students are preparing to be successful in a technology driven society. They have goals, dreams, and aspirations for this school year. I know that they can accomplish anything, but it is my hope to make sure they have all the needed resources to do that!
My Project
After the sad way our school year has come to an end I would love to give my students a whole new sense of excitement for the upcoming school year. For too many of my students, school is their only place they are encouraged to expand the types of books they they would normally read. Some, the only time they read at all is at school. A lot of my students feel a sense of defeat when it comes to reading. Most of my students are at a much lower reading level and feel uncomfortable with their abilities. However, when I give my students an experience their confidence grows and they become involved and motivated. I will be able to accomplish these goals with the materials listed in my project. With the motivational shower curtains hung on the walls the students will have motivation surrounding them at all times. With the bubble machine,speaker, LED lights, and fog/light machine I will make special and memorable moments at anytime. When we start a new novel or a student/the group is successful at something we can have mini celebrations to make their accomplishments memorable and give them the confidence boost they deserve.By simply turning on these items the room will be transformed into a mini celebration.
I want my students to know the adventures they can take through reading is endless.
A lot of my students have never experienced life outside of their small town. By making reading an experience instead of a "chore" I will be able to show them through reading they can travel anywhere in the world, real or magical lands The possibilities are endless.
