This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a STEM teacher at a middle school that is just beginning a STEM program. We are located in a high poverty area. Often, we do not have the finances needed for materials or professional development to provide the enriched learning experiences our students deserve.
Meaningful professional development is a must in order for teachers to provide students with 21st Century learning opportunities.
Our students are excited to learn when they are provided with lessons that they can relate to as the digital, fast-paced generation of learners that they are. Teachers must learn new methods to reach this generation.
My Project
I need travel expenses and a one-night hotel stay to attend the Teach Your Heart Out conference in June. The sessions at this conference are cutting edge and research-based. Experts in their fields share their expertise. I will be learning 21st Century strategies from top educators from all around the world.
Upon return to my school, I will not only implement these new strategies, but I will conduct professional development sessions to share these with my colleagues at the school, district, and state/national level.
Students deserve a 21st-century education and to be provided with innovative learning experiences. The way to ensure this is to ensure that teachers receive top quality professional development. This conference will provide that!
