This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 6th, 7th and 8th-grade students in the Mandarin Dual Language program desire to excel in Mandarin in an immersive environment. According to the research, academic levels of children educated in a dual language immersion program often surpass those of children educated in English only. My students live in a low-income area and they are eager to read, write, and learn Mandarin! My students attend a school funded through Title I, and yet many of my students aspire to learn a second language.

In my Mandarin dual language program, students have more exposure to the target language and understand Chinese culture and the people.

Thus, they are getting ready to better opportunities in a globalized world where the USA and China will continue to be major players.

My Project

These gift cards will help allow my students to purchase the items needed for their virtual travel plan project during hybrid learning. Their hard work for this project can be also recognized and rewarded to get a sense of virtual traveling. During the new normalcy of our new school year, my students earn classroom rewards for their travel planning presentations. This project also serves as an incentive so that they'll be highly motiviated to use rewards to shop for the necessities as a way of connecting with the virtual world and the real life.
