My Students
Help us travel for tunes! Young children love musical experiences; help us get to one!
Our school is a PreK-8th grade, Title I school in Washington, DC.
We can see the Capitol building from our front door! My classroom is an autism inclusion, multi-age, Head Start classroom. That means we have children who are 3 and 4 years old, 6 of whom have autism and 11 of whom are typically developing. All of our children see the world as a wondrous place full of possibilities. We are helping them learn to express themselves in different ways - through spoken language, drawing, writing, building, painting, and music and movement.
My Project
By funding this project you will allow my students to gain access to a high quality musical experience. We were recipients of a free field trip to the Center for Education at Wolf Trap. The first part is called "A Great Idea", during which a performing artist takes the children on a journey of the creative process. Then, we will be treated to a live jazz performance by the Wolf Trap Jazz Trio!
As a Head Start classroom, we cannot attend field trips that charge for attendance and my school does not have a budget for field trips.
This is an awesome opportunity, which my students would not normally have because of the cost. By funding this project you will give us access to a high quality music experience by professional artists.
