Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

In education we strive to give students skills that will stay with them throughout their lives. In today's world, conserving our resources and learning to buy and use products responsibly is knowledge that students can use every single day to improve thier futures by being good stewards of our natural world.

This project will teach my talented art students the importance of recycling and challenge them to create beautiful works of art from materials that we routinely throw away.

The orginizational bins will teach students how to properly separate and store materials that are normally taken to a landfill. The materials they bring from home and deposit in the bins will then be used to create art in the classroom.

The educational book resources will help spark their creativity and give them a variety of projects they can choose from to create their recycled masterpiece. By becoming aware of why recycling is important and showing the possibilities to others through their art, what they have learned can be shared in a fun and exciting way that can ripple through the community. To that end, the art that is made during this project will be featured in an art showcase and displayed on all three of our campuses.
