Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
During the month of April, my students learned about ways to help our environment. As a class, we decided that one way we can contribute to keep our planet clean is by starting right in our own backyard! So we made a plan to start a monthly "Clean Your Campus" day! But how to keep them motivated to do so?
The watercolors, fidget toys, and sensory stickers will serve as rewards for my climate heroes after cleaning up our campus.
These rewards will not only motivate them to continue the hard work of cleaning our campus, but they will also serve to meet their social and emotional needs. The fidget toys are a great way for busy minds to focus, the watercolor brush pens will allow for more opportunities to create beautiful art projects, as well as be part of their free choice time.
These incentives help create an inclusive and supportive classroom where every student feels valued and motivated to keep their school (and eventually the planet) clean.
