This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are mostly black and Hispanic in the inner city setting. They are great kids. Their reading levels vary but can be on the lower end. Our school is old (100 years old), but it has a lot of character. Unfortunately, some of that character is breaking down.

The students are good workers and have a wide eye towards technology since they don't have a lot of it at home.

By having special technology at school it gives them an extra reason to come to school to learn.

My Project

I desperately need help with communicating with some of my kid's parents and/or guardians. There have been numerous (I can't even count) times where a parent has come to the school and I have been unable to communicate with them because they speak Spanish and I only speak English. I can't even give them basic directions. A pocket translator would be such a great gift to me and the classroom.

My students are also in need of Flash Drives to store their work from the computer lab.

Many times they have projects that I want to transfer to the teacher's computer so we can share with the entire class.
