My Project
I teach in a school where ELL students are welcomed. Funding for ELL programs has been cut on a national level causing our students to learn without supports. I've asked for an iPad to help students assimilate and feel a part of the learning in class instead of them waiting and hoping they get their assignment completed.
Using the iPad will help my students translate pages, activities and help with participation in small group activities.
This should help build language skills as well as confidence.
Last year, small group learning was difficult for my non-English speakers. They tried however, were often frustrated and had to depend on each other for translation.
I've asked for a class set of headphones to help with Lexia, and for my students with reading text.
