This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Being a Head Start teacher at this time upsets me. I have 17 children that come from such diverse backgrounds. During this pandemic schools are closed and my students are forced to learn at home. My job as an educator is to make sure my families have the resources they need to homeschool their children. They live in under-resourced areas, and they are struggling to keep their children learning and socially engaged. I am providing my families with online learning. They also need to know that this is not the only way for children to learn during this Pandemic.
My goal is to help families set realistic expectations for their children's learning.
My Project
These school readiness transition kits will be used to help my students in transitioning from the school environment to homeschooling. They will be able to use these materials inside the backpacks during their learning time at home with their family members. These kits will help family members to expand the opportunities for playful learning that is child-directed, and will help the families with giving their children experiences that are driven by curiosty and exploration outside of the classroom. Homeschooling can be tough for families these kits are to make the world of homeschooling less stressful during this panedemic.
