Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Teachers are coming back needing new ways to teach content to make up the gap students have experienced. Students are returning to the classroom with heightened anxiety and more activity needed because they are having to relearn how to be in the classroom. Students have also lost socialization skills therefore being surrounded by others can distress many of them.

As teachers have returned to the classroom, we are realizing the needs are different.

By adding in the flexible seating, students can learn how to manage the experienced anxiety by adjusting their seating and focusing on what their body is needing in that moment. By adjusting to their current experience students will be leaving the classroom less and still are able to be involved in the learning process.

Many students are burnt out on worksheets. By adding visuals to history, station rotations can be created so that students are able to actually see what they are learning about instead of simply answering questions about it. Visually seeing what students are learning adds an impact they have been missing over the pandemic learning.

My students are more than capable of achieving high levels of success, and how we get there may not be traditional but they are capable. The best teachers do what is best for their students and by provided students with options and various mediums, we are able to account for where they are currently at and get them to where they need to be.
