This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand." My Transitional Kindergarten students are in desperate need of essential, hands-on resources and a laptop that will prepare them for the 21st Century kindergarten class.

I have been teaching Kindergarten for 16 years in a very low socioeconomic area of Southern California.

Our school is a Title I school and all the students receive free lunch, meaning that these families are living at or below the poverty line. There are many living arrangements and family structures in my class. A lot of the students have very limited to no technology available to them outside of the school environment. Most students are learning English as a second language. Even when they are faced with many challenges both at home and at school, they are enthusiastic and eager to learn. My students are hungry for knowledge, knowledge that will get them ready for college. My students are scholars that understand the importance of hard work and try their best to meet their goals. All the parents want the best education for their child and they try to do the best they can and they rely a lot on our school.

My Project

Every child should have an opportunity to learn and interact with a technology in the classroom that will give them the opportunity to succeed in school. The laptop and the reading games will be used in small group activities to promote language development and mathematics applications. My TK students will learn best when they are involved with online learning games and activities that the laptop will provide. I will also use the laptop as whole group interactive teaching using the projector. Students tend to pay more attention and get very excited when the projector is on. When students are involved and engaged, they will remember what they have just learned and carry their learning to the next level. My students will be fluent readers, writers and great mathematicians as they use these resources to further their learning. The laptop will also be used to keep assessment scores and analyze the data to differentiate my teaching to meets of all students.

I am absolutely sure that your generous donation will provide my little ones a chance to learn through the innovative technology in their everyday classroom experiences.

They are not fortunate enough to have technology at home and as a concerned educator, I need to provide that missing link to ensure that they will be ready for the 21st century that is so technology driven. How can we say "NO!" to students who are so eager to learn? With your help, I can say "YES" to my brilliant students.
