This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Transitional Kindergarten students are curious four years olds with lots of energy. They are always ready to explore the unknown with many questions about their surroundings. Many of the students at Lewis Elementary, come from low socio economic families where access to learning materials at home are limited. My students love learning, they are like sponges, absorbing everything that is presented to them. My TK students love using flash cards to play different games such as memory and matching numbers. They are so creative and enjoy making up their own games. The flash cards will help students identify the use of a ten frame and decompose whole numbers. Exposure is the key to teaching these little minds to be life long learners.
My Project
Oh, changes are coming to Transitional Kindergarten! TKers have as much energy as the Energizer Bunny. They are intrigued with the unknown and do not understand limited space. With new contact limitations within the classrooms, students will be spending more time at their desks and seats. Scooting the chairs in and out on the carpet will be a struggle for these students as the chair legs get snagged on the carpet. Therefore, attaching tennis balls to the chairs' legs will limit the students distraction and allow them to stay focus and on task.
The Number Cards, allows students to participate individually in math activities while limiting their contact with other students.
The students will learn their numbers by counting the counters on a ten frame. These hands-on visual cards are perfect for students to actively engage in lessons. and practice with games like Memory and Matching.
Finally, the plastic name tag sleeves are a precaution that allows an easier process of sanitizing the student's desk on a daily basis. They will also allow the students to practice writing their names as they learn letter formation, alphabets, and the spelling of their names.
these supplies will enhance the students learning ability in all aspects of their education.
