This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
There are 24 transitional kindergarten students in my classroom that are full of energy and are ready to learn. They have not been introduced to technology because our school does not have the money necessary to buy computers.
Our school is located in a low economic area.
100% of the students are Title 1 and qualify for the Free Federal Breakfast and Lunch program. Most of my students come from families who do not speak English. My transitional kindergarten students are enthusiastic about learning and always try their best. I have seen their language, social and academic skills grow everyday. They have shown me that they have the potential to exceed all expectations.
My Project
I have a computer in my classroom for teacher's use, which I let students use occasionally. They are hopeful everyday to have the chance to use the computer, but, unfortunately, not everyone gets the opportunity. I feel these little students deserve the luck of getting to learn in a fun and new way through computers. People take for granted having the ability to use this technology. I would like to allow the students to get to use one
With these computers I will teach my students the readiness computer skills needed to succeed in school.
They will also enjoy learning through computers. There are so many wonderful academic software programs that will make learning so much fun for these 4-5 year olds. Please support this wonderful gift to education.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
