Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The specific items requested, including brooms, mops and squeegees are used in real-life settings, and will make a significant difference in students' learning by providing them with hands-on experience in essential tasks. These tools will help students with moderate to severe needs practice skills critical for independent living, such as household chores and basic job-related tasks. By engaging with these items, students will gain confidence and competence in areas that are crucial for their future independence and employment opportunities after high school. The zero gravity chairs and side table will create a dedicated physical resting area where students can explore and discover what they personally need to relax and reenergize after work shifts. This setup will teach them vital leisure skills and help them establish healthy boundaries between work and rest, which is essential for maintaining a balanced life.
The goals for this project are to empower students with the necessary skills for independent living and to prepare them for gainful employment after high school.
Additionally, the project aims to foster an understanding of the importance of relaxation and leisure, providing students with the tools to maintain their well-being in a work-life balance.
What makes these students special is their determination and potential to overcome challenges and lead fulfilling lives. Despite their moderate to severe needs, they have a strong desire to learn and grow. This project is designed to support their unique needs, helping them to build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the future.
