My Project

As I prepare my classroom for another school year over the summer, I'd like to change the ambiance to enable my newcomer multi-lingual learners to have a place where they can truly relax.

With a special emphasis on Climate & The Environment, I would like students in my inner-city middle school to feel the calming effects of being surrounded by greenery in the classroom.

Also, I am the sponsor of an after-school activity that is a beauty club. My students have mentioned that they would like to transform my room into a "spa-like environment." They wrote down a wish-list of items they would like me to order, but since money is tight at our school, they need your help.

For ambiance, I'm requesting LED lights in delicate white and bold green, lots of "uplifting" posters and a door covering, green glass desk decor, hanging plants galore, potted plants, garland, green pencil holders.

On a personal note, I also need labels, sheet protectors, and plastic dividers for student binders, and green Kleenex boxes.

I will also be taking it a step further by adding Climate & the Environment to kick off the first unit of the school year. As long as I teach the four domains: Reading, Writing, Speaking, & Listening, there is flexibility in my topics. Students will be asked to research online and present their findings to the whole group by sharing PowerPoints that they created. They will emphasize on the role they can play when it comes to sustainability.
