My students need a Brick Wall Backdrop, Hogwarts House Banners, Hat Costume Puppet, Wizards Glasses, Flameless Candles and the Snowy Owl to be transported to the world of Harry Potter. As we conclude our novel study our room will transform into the setting of the book with the items in this project.
Our school is nestled in a quiet neighborhood. We serve 800 students grades K-5. As a non title 1 school we receive very little funding from the state and local governments. That means we must reach out to you, our community, to help fill the financial gap to help enrich our students' learning.
Our students are inquisitive, and eager to learn and try new things.
They beg to play games, and when we can pair educational opportunities hidden in a game, everybody wins.
My Project
My students need a Brick Wall Backdrop, Hogwarts House Banners, Hat Costume Puppet, Wizards Glasses, Flameless Candles and the Snowy Owl to be transported to the world of Harry Potter. As we conclude our novel study our room will transform into the setting of the book with the items in this project. Starting with a simple brick backdrop and the Hogwarts house banners students will step into the setting of the novel. Students will then be sorted into their houses using the sorting hat puppet. Throughout the day they will complete academic challenges within their houses to see who will finish on top.
Using the flickering candles hung from the ceiling they will make their own wands and create how to brochures.
We will then feast by candlelight as we conclude our book study on the characters, plot, and many other literature skills we learned over the past month. This will be sure to be a day the kiddos will not soon forget.
