Transform Our Sensory Room: Support Comfortable, Functional Furniture!
Help me give my students sensory items to support the learning and comfort of students in our self-contained classroom, helping create a more inclusive and engaging environment for all.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I absolutely love how unique and resilient my students are. Each one brings their own strengths, perspectives, and challenges to the classroom, and it’s truly inspiring to see how they grow every day. They are eager to learn, full of curiosity, and deserve an environment where they can feel comfortable, supported, and engaged.
The sensory items we are requesting will make a significant difference in their learning by providing the tools they need to self-regulate and stay focused.
Many of my students benefit from sensory input to help them stay calm, reduce stress, and improve concentration. Having access to sensory furniture, like soft seating or calming sensory tools, will give them the opportunity to engage in learning without feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated.
My goal for this project is to create a sensory-friendly classroom where every student has the space and resources they need to thrive. By adding sensory items, I aim to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment that caters to their individual needs, whether it's offering a quiet corner for relaxation or providing tactile tools to help with focus.
What makes my students truly special is their perseverance and their ability to adapt. Despite the challenges they face, they always try their best, and they remind me daily of the importance of creating a learning space that meets all their needs. These sensory items will not only improve their ability to focus and engage, but they’ll also help build their confidence and independence in the classroom.
