As students who live in the center of the city, the kids in our class will be coming with a wide array of experiences and backgrounds. Each student brings with them their own family culture creating a diverse environment where learning extends past the academics. In our classroom, the two teachers who work with these students encourage a challenging and engaging experience for students every single day.
As two first year teachers, we are very excited to create a classroom where students feel safe, welcomed, and challenged.
My Project
When choosing a snack to eat, I've noticed that most students in my room will opt for cheesy chips or pastry-like bars instead of nutritional, healthy options. We even have students that would rather be hungry than eat one of our healthy choices!
With this project, I'd like to help my students dissociate nutritious foods with bad tastes by exposing them to snacks that are not only healthy but are also delicious!
Once my students learn to trust that they can enjoy foods that are good for their bodies, they will be on their way to making healthier choices on their own.
