This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Athletics is a key part of our school culture. We are a Title I school and for many of our students, athletics is a key motivator for academics in the classroom. Throughout the year about 70% of our students participate in an after school sport.

Sports programs at our school provide a safe place for our students to go after school while teaching them necessary life skills such as responsibility, teamwork and goal setting.

Our student-athletes work hard, they balance academic expectations and schoolwork, as well as sport practices and competition. Sports serve as a point of pride for our students, their success on the field or court translates into success in the classroom and in life.

My Project

Track and Field season is my favorite as it is a chance for all athletes regardless of previous experience can participate and be part of team as it is a no cut sport. Students of all abilities come out of every practice and work extremely hard to get in shape and improve in their chosen events. However, our team is in need of new training and competition equipment to prepare for their season.

This project would make a difference by giving our athletes the equipment they need to train and compete in our track and field meets!

Jump ropes, a battle rope and kettle weights would use to improve our students' strength and conditioning workouts. Shot puts and discusses will be used to teach beginners a new track and field event. Parachutes and the resistant belt would improve speed and agility in all of our runners. A starting block and tape measures would ensure that we have the equipment needed for race day!

My student-athletes work extremely hard both in the classroom and on the field. To be able to surprise them with new training and meet equipment would continue to ignite their passion not only for track and field but for fitness and self improvement.
