My Students

I am very excited to say that I am a teacher! This is my 10th year teaching and I'm happy to say that.

My students are creative, energetic, adventurous, outgoing, and tender-hearted!

Our school day feels more like a family gathering! We are all there for each other.

I have been at the same school my entire career and I absolutely love it. My husband works in the Computer Lab- his class is right next door to mine and my mother is the Reading Interventionist right down the hallway, so we work as a family to find what makes our students successful! Our school is in a low-income, very rural area where students are looking for more than just education at school. They look for love and support, especially during this trying time.

I teach ELA, Reading, and Social Studies to thirty-five 3rd and 4th graders in class. Therefore, I am looking into projects that will help them excel and bridge those gaps that the pandemic has set into place. Please read on so that you can help us gain student success all across the board this year!

My Project

This project will help my students be able to access new graphic Toon books! We have an Accelerated Reader program in place that provides students with 9 week goals. Students read daily to test and gain points.

Our students display a love for graphic novels, therefore, it is important that we allow them access to the literature they enjoy!

Toon books will help my students in so many ways. Students will be able to learn new vocabulary words, understand dialogue, view character traits, and even understand authors purpose as well as many other important aspects in reading. This will help them to not only gain success through the AR Program but learn much needed skills for everyday life.
