This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom this year consists of 22 eager learners. Each year, my students find joy in actively participating during both whole group and small group literacy discussions. In second grade, they will be learning the foundation of knowledge and skills that they will need to be successful in their education and in life.
Each of my students will learn differently and I want them to be able to showcase the best version of themselves in a multitude of ways!
After we read stories aloud, we will have verbal discussions to help strengthen their reading comprehension skills so that they are prepared to reach new literacy goals throughout the year.
I would like to continue to enhance my classroom library with these trade books so that there is something that captures the interest of my students beyond what we read together during our Listening & Learning block. With an enhanced library, my students will never get tired of reading because they will be able to explore new worlds, learn new facts, and create new interests just in the palm of their hands!
My Project
Our class will begin a new adventure in our listening and learning language arts curriculum. To reinforce the concepts of domains 1 and 2, I would love to have trade books available in our classroom library.
These trade books will extend our lessons through the use of rich, authentic literature that will bring our studies to life.
In addition, these trade books would infuse authentic domain-related literature into our fun and exciting extension activities during our studies.
I have chosen these titles from the suggested trade book list to reinforce the domain concepts focused on during our studies of Early Asian Civilizations and Fairy Tales/Tall Tales.
