Think back to when you were in High School. What do you remember? Was it a test or homework assignment? Probably not. It was the relationships and experiences you had. For many of us, it was the thrill of High School sports. This is exactly what I want to create for a group of students with special needs through Unified Track and Field.
There is nothing like the life lessons you learn on and off the track with your team.
This is where I need your help. We are entering the 5th year of our Unified Track program. With all of the COVID closures my students have missed out on a lot of their High School experience. However, it looks like we are rounding the corner and will be able to have a spring track season. Unfortunately, when I looked at our uniforms I noticed a problem. Through wear and tear, many are faded, the elastic in the waistbands are stretched, and they just generally look rough. Coming from a low-income school people already have certain ideas of what our athletics are like. Please help me provide them these new track uniforms and warm-ups to eliminate that stigma. Give them a chance to run, throw, and jump to their potential and gain the valuable lessons you learn from participating in High School sports.
