Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Since Covid, students seem to be struggling finding their motivation for schooling. Many students are simply drifting through their high school experience without a “why” to motivate them to engage in this experience. As the Cross Country and Track Coach I hope my programs can provide that why for students. Both Cross Country and Track are considered individual sports, meaning these students succeed and fail almost entirely on their own. This concept of succeeding and failing on your own is a scary one in life but our athletes meet this challenge with determination and a smile on their faces. If this project is funded I will keep these weights out at the track and we will begin to integrate lifting into our workouts out at the track. The tent would be used at track meets as a base camp, helping shield the team from the sun, wind, and rain. The team already has a tent but this year our team numbers has grown dramatically, so much so that a second tent is needed. Thank you for providing myself and other teachers this opportunity to advocate for our programs and the students we provide them for.
