This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a diverse, first grade, integrated, collaborative teaching (ICT) class, with a combined mixture of general and special education students at a large, high-needs, Title I school in the north Bronx. Although most students come from low-income homes or homes with limited parental school involvement, they are enthusiastic and truly come to school every day, ready to learn. These children see school as a consistent part of their daily lives and strive daily to make me proud.
My class of first graders is some of the happiest children I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Not only do several of them struggle with unstable home lives, but many cope with various disabilities such as ADHD, autism, and speech and language impairments. These kids inspire me to provide the best education I can for them.
My Project
The Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards that I have requested will make a difference in my students' learning by allowing me to find just-right lessons and activities for my students. I will also be able to print out colored resources and lesson resources for my students.
All of the resources will mainly be used in the classroom.
However, I would like to print and send activities, practice, and resources home so the students can work on financial literacy with their families.
Building a solid foundation in financial literacy will allow my students to understand planning and saving which will help them become financially responsible citizens.
