This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When my students and I said our goodbyes one Friday in mid-March, little did we know that it was going to be for the remainder of the school year. Many went home with a school issued laptop computer and a folder of worksheets that we thought would last for the time needed.
Boy, were we wrong!
We were definitely not prepared for the events that were to come. As an educator in a low income, highly transient urban area of Miami-Dade County my kiddos and I are normally faced with many challenges and we are accustomed to jump whatever hurdles are encountered as I address my learners' educational needs.
Regardless of our current challenges though, the majority of my students are very determined and eager to succeed. In spite of their personal experiences, most of my students are very active, enthusiastic learners who possess a thirst for knowledge. So, we persevered and are now engaged in distance learning and video conferencing through Zoom in order to accomplish our educational goals.
My Project
It is my goal to purchase much needed distance learning instructional materials and activities in order to enhance my students' online learning!
Given the present situation, digital online resources are of paramount importance in order to supplement their online distance learning and our live ZOOM classes.
Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) offers a variety of academic resources created by educators in order to meet students' academic needs.
The TPT gift cards will be used to purchase materials that will enhance our daily instruction. These resources are going to be very useful at this time because they can be used to send to students via email or to work on together through ZOOM’s share screen capability. There are so many fantastic math, science and social studies lessons available which would be very easy to incorporate into my distance learning lessons. Additionally, the requested speaker stand would be used to free up space on my in-home classroom desktop. My existing set up is cluttered with a desktop computer, laptop, document camera, writing area and a soundbar. The wall stand would to take our existing soundbar off of my desktop and would free up much needed desk space for the document camera and projected writing area. Having access to these resources will help us finish the 2020 school year off with success!
