Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in the AVID program at our high school. They are in this college-prep program because they were recommended as having a lot of potential for college success and they have the individual determination to do well in school and further their education after high school.

One of the main reasons they are in this program is because they will be the first in their families to go to college and/or come from low-income families.

These students need the support and extra assistance to help make their college goals a reality. These are great, and bright kids and will make it to college and have a bright future with the help and support of our program.

My Project

My students will get a chance to see 8 different Universities in the course of 3 days.

These students' families don't have the means to take them on trips to visit Universities.

This trip helps them realize the possibilities for college that are not too far from home. We will rent 2 coach buses, and see 3 Universities the first day, 3 on the second day, and 2 on the final day.

They will get to speak with college admissions counselors, and go on official tours with current college students. It also gives them the opportunity to experience time away from home with students their age, which many of these students have never experienced.
